While I’m far from a good writer, I’ve decided that the only thing stopping me from getting better is a lack of practice. The idea is to write for 30 minutes a day, every day. No excuses. The topic can be anything. It could be a structured piece (unlikely), some stand-up scribbles that I’m jotting down or just pure stream of consciousness. I’m hoping that by committing to this blog, I might start to notice crutches I’ve put in place, cliches I throw out on the regular and just clumsy expressions I should’ve moved on from years ago. By devoting a small amount of time each day, I’m aiming to tighten up the way I write and the speed at which I’m able to dump ideas from the mushy brown lump in my skull.
If it seems to get self-indulgent at times just remember that my prime audience is myself, and he’s more pretentious than an owl with thick-rimmed glasses. Not half as adorable though. Adorab-owl? You may want to leave now…
